about Mark Daniel

the 4th and long origin story

Mark Daniel started under the name "4th and Long" in August of 2017 as a way to procrastinate studying for his Finance 341 final exam. Starting in the garage, he began recording covers of some of his favorite artists like Johnny Cash, Garth Brooks, and Chris Young before he got into writing his own original songs.

Origins

Mark Daniel started his career under the name "4th and Long" in the summer of 2017 upon returning from Army Basic Camp in Ft. Knox. The origin of the name "4th and Long" comes from Mark Daniel's high school football days as a moderately unathletic kicker where the only time he got to go into the game was when the down and distance was, wait for it, "4th and Long". Football made such a tremendous impact on Mark's life, from the lessons it taught him to giving him his two best friends in the world, that he saw fit to include it in his stage name

Mark Daniel moved around a fair bit in his life but he tends to call Colorado his home. At a very young age, he moved to France and lived in Paris for 3 years. He was fortunate enough to travel around Europe prominently during this time and says he is very appreciative of those experiences at such an early stage of his life. Looking back, He said he was one lucky kid to get to spend most of his childhood skiing, hiking, and fishing in the Rockies.  Though he currently live in Texas, he states he could see himself settling down on a ranch in Colorado one day if  should he be that lucky.

Education

Mark Daniel is a proud member of the Fightin' Texas Aggie Class of 2019. He is currently a marketing major in Mays Business School with a focus in professional selling. He attributes many of the inspirations for his music to his time at Texas A&M. Many of the songs he's written have been about people he met in Aggieland and most of his early supporters were the lifelong friends he made on campus. As always, Gig 'Em and God Bless.
